Welcome to the Renfrew Golf Club, Since 1929

The Renfrew Golf Club Limited is a semi-private course located in the heart of Eastern Ontario's Ottawa Valley. We believe our club has a progressive and futuristic outlook while at the same time honouring our proud history.

We offer a fully licensed clubhouse and banquet facilities for up to 180 guests with full catering services and outdoor patio.

Our Pro Shop is fully stocked with a knowledgeable teaching Professional and Pro Shop staff. We also offer a large driving range which is available to our members and public alike.

Most of all we offer eighteen of the most beautifully scenic and challenging holes of golf you will find anywhere. All eighteen of our green complexes were completely redesigned in the fall of 2000 with large and challenging bent grass putting surfaces, new free-form bunkers, characteristic mounding and rolling surrounds.

This major undertaking exemplifies the Renfrew Golf Club's commitment to its members and guests in providing a unique and pleasurable golfing experience at affordable prices.

We highly recommend that you consider the Renfrew Golf Club in the near future. You will not be disappointed.

History

The Club has a long tradition of excellence!

The original property was owned and farmed by the Peever Family as early as 1825. Their home, the Old Stone House, once stood as a monument to our past. Today, this landmark remains with us as the Golf Club logo. The logo is a reminder of our past and the people who literally laid the groundwork for our success today! The Old Stone House stood between the 18th fairway and the 10th tee. Picture as you gaze over the 10th and 18th fairways, men with teams of horses pulling stumps. This make-work project was spearheaded by Mr. H.A. Jordan, Mr. M.T. Duggan and Mr. M.J. O'Brien in 1929. A humble start for our Golf Club.

The architect for the "back nine" was captain Melville Millar, secretary-Manager of Islington Golf Course. Word has it that Captain Millar had very close ties with Stanley Thompson, the great Canadian architect.

The first Club Championship saw Robert R. Steele defeat R. Baxter six and five in a 36-hole match in 1929.

Our "front nine" came into play in 1973 and the architect was Owen Scott from Guelph.

All 18 of our green complexes were completely redesigned in the fall of 2000 with large and challenging bent grass surfaces, new free-form bunkers, characteristic mounding and rolling surrounds. The architect for this major reconstruction project was Steven Ward of Golf Plan Associates of Picton, Ontario.

The tradition lives on!
